The following provides information on our line of apothecary products. With a couple of exceptions (Reishi mushroom & three of the ingredients in our seasonal Christmas Tree tea) we use plant matter that is foraged or grown on the farm. All products are handmade in small batches. Please message us to purchase.

Ruckle Farm Body Oils 

Farm grown or foraged plants are infused in oil for a moon cycle. A small amount of high proof vodka is used at the beginning of the process to help draw out the plants’ constituents. The olive oil infused with lavender and calendula can be used all over including the face if your face tolerates olive oil; however, some people find oils like jojoba and tamanu work better for facial care and therefore we also offer specific face oils that can be pre-ordered.

Calendula is:

  • anti-inflammatory and antimicrobial
  • great for helping heal minor cuts, bruises and scratches
  • some say it can reduce hair growth and is said to be good for acne
  • helps limit scar tissue growth.

Lavender is:

  • anti-inflammatory and antimicrobial
  • beautiful scent can boost mood and aid in relaxation and help with insomnia
  • great for healing skin wounds and is excellent in helping relieve sunburns
  • excellent massage oil; great for kids’ foot massages before bed

Comfrey is:

  • historically used to address broken bones
  • can help heal swollen fingers and toes, and other sports or farming related injuries
  • Herbalist Devon Young says, “I find this herb to be one of the precious few herbs that can relieve the pain and expedite the healing of broken ribs.”
  • this oil is not intended as a face oil

Deodorant

Calendula infused olive oil, beeswax, arrowroot powder, baking soda, essential oil. Lavender and Ylang Ylang  varieties available.

Support your lymphatic system with a natural handcrafted product that not only lasts a long time but really works! The wonderful salve consistency of this product make it easy to apply to armpits.

Rose Hip Eye Cream 

Roses are high in antioxidants and are said to help reduce skin redness and the signs of aging. Rose Hips are incredibly high in vitamin C. Personally rendered from our own Ruckle Farm beef, tallow is high in vitamins and is incredibly moisturizing.

Herbal Salves 

“There’s no problem you can’t salve!”

Salves are healing balms made by combining herbal oils with beeswax to provide a thicker, spreadable consistency. Herbal oils are made using farm grown or foraged plants infused in oil for a moon cycle. A small amount of high proof vodka is used at the beginning of the process to help draw out the plants’ constituents. After a moon cycle, plant matter is strained out and the herbal oil is combined with beeswax, which is anti-inflammatory and anti-microbial also.

Yarrow is:

  • infection fighting, therefore great for healing scrapes
  • soothing for sunburns and bug bites

Calendula is: 

  • helpful for heal cuts and reducing chafing
  • excellent as a diaper cream
  • great at discouraging scar tissue formation

 

Usnea Dual-Extraction Tincture 

Old Man’s Beard is also known as “the lungs of the forest”

Made with foraged plant material and high proof spirits, locally sourced when available

Usnea is:

  • considered one of nature’s antibiotics
  • greatly supports the respiratory system
  • helps digestive issues and reduces candida overgrowth
  • can help after food poisoning

Corn Silk Tincture 

Made with our own Ruckle Farm corn silk, this beautiful medicinal plant is tinctured fresh at the end of summer in high proof spirits, locally sourced when available

Corn silk:

  • supports urinary, pelvic floor and prostate health
  • helps urinary tract infections, kidney stones and issues related to an enlarged prostate.
  • can flush out uric acid therefore supporting those with gout
  • reduces puffy eyes and helps rheumatoid arthritis
  • helps post meal sugar crashes
  • helps reduce upset stomach after a meal high in fats

Reishi Mushroom Dual-Extraction Tincture

Made from one of the few medicinal ingredients we don’t grow of forage ourselves, this tincture uses Harmonic Arts dried Reishi and high proof spirits, locally sourced when available. Water is also used at the end of the six week itincturing process to make a decoction with the leftoer plant matter, which is then strained and combined with the alcohol tincture.

Reishi:

  • benefits the immune system
  • is an adaptogen, meaning it helps the body deal with stress
