Join us in commemorating Heritage Week

Established in 1872, Ruckle Heritage Farm is celebrating its 150th anniversary this year. It is the oldest operating family farm in the southern Gulf Islands, making it the perfect place to celebrate agricultural history during Heritage Week.

While farm tours are offered year-round, tours within the Alfred house and lamb feeding tours are only offered seasonally. For Heritage week we are happy to offer these two seasonal experiences and donate ten percent of the proceeds to the Salt Spring Abattoir, helping to keep heritage farming alive on the island.

Alfred Heritage House Tour
Join us for a guided tour inside and around this historic home built in 1905. Learn about the Ruckle family and farming history while walking through one of Salt Spring Island’s most iconic homes. This grand place is fully outfitted in antiques, creating the experience of stepping back in time.
$65 for up to four people. Tour is approximately thirty minutes.
Please note the Alfred House has stairs and is unfortunately not wheelchair accessible. Guests will be asked to remove their footwear..

Baby Lamb Farm Tour

The tour will begin with a walk down the farm’s picturesque laneway leading you to one of the farm’s historic barns, all while hearing about the farm’s rich history and viewing the animals grazing on the pasture. At the barn you’ll be able to see the baby lambs and possibly even get a chance to bottle-feed a few of them. Adorable photo-ops await!
$100 for up to four people. $20 each additional guest
Tour is approximately one hour.
Tour will happen rain or shine so please dress appropriately. Rubber boots recommended.
